Apple veröffentlicht macOS Monterey 12.6 und Safari 16

Der fröhliche Update-Reigen des heutigen Abends geht weiter. So dürfen nun auch Mac-User die Softwareaktualisierung bemühen und finden darin unter anderem Safari in der neuen Version 16. Durch das separate Update kommen auch Nutzer älterer macOS-Versionen in den Genuss der Neuerungen von Apples Browser. Um welche Neuerungen es sich dabei neben den gewohnten Verbesserungen in Sachen Sicherheit und Leistung handelt, beschreibt Apple in den Releasenotes wie folgt:

  • In Startseiten für Tabgruppen können für jede Tabgruppe unterschiedliche Hintergrundbilder und Favoriten hinzufügt werden.
  • Angepinnte Tabs in Tabgruppen ermöglichen es, für jede Tabgruppe häufig besuchte Websites anzupinnen.
  • Durch das Anzeigen von Tabs in der Seitenleiste können offene Tabs als Listen dargestellt werden.
  • Einstellungen für bestimmte Websites werden nun geräteübergreifend synchronisiert.
  • Durch das Bearbeiten von starken Passwörtern können starke Passwörter angepasst werden, um Anforderungen bestimmter Websites zu erfüllen.
Apple weist zudem darauf hin, dass einige Funktionen möglicherweise nicht für alle Regionen oder auf allen Apple-Geräten verfügbar sind. Genauere Informationen zu den Sicherheitsinhalten des Updates nennt Apple in einem zugehörigen Support-Dokument.

Safari 16 wird auch Teil von macOS Ventura sein, welches im kommenden Monat erscheint. Bis dahin hat Apple am heutigen Abend aber auch noch ein weiteres Update für macOS Monterey veröffentlicht. Neue Funktionen sollte man dabei jedoch nicht erwarten. In den Releasenots schreibt Apple lediglich allgemein von Sicherheitsverbesserungen.
