Do not lose the job by using a general resume! What a general resume does, is tell them how you fail like everyone else - not how you surpass your competition for the same position.

These days, organizations need to have the actual position title you are hoping to apply for - while a general resume fails to show that. And beyond that, they instantly want to learn what positively distinguishes you - while a general resume forces you to appear like a clone of the other 499 general resumes they've already had dropped on them.

Many years ago, job seekers were taught that the resume has to contain a group of point-form duties and responsibilities required by each occupation we have ever been hired for - and the more the better. No longer! Today, hiring decision-makers will only take fifteen seconds (sometimes not even that) when reviewing your resume. Don't use the duties/responsibilities resume approach!

Long ago, all resumes opened by writing an Objective Statement - but not any more! Savvy hiring experts all agree, these types of resume items do nothing when evaluating your occupation qualifications. Thus, do not write an Objective Statement!

Resume statements as for example "professional", have no value. They are cliche and fail to put you in a positive way. Similarly for a statement such as "dedicated". The correct text highlight what you achieved while working for your previous employers and how valuable you could be to this potential hiring decision-maker.

In the current job market, hiring decision-makers want to be told the unique work title you are hoping to apply for - while a general resume fails to show this. On top of that, they quickly look to determine what positively makes you a better choice - while a general resume forces you to appear identical to the other 399 general resumes they have already had sent to them.

Resume snippets like "professional", hurt your resume. They come across as cliche and do not present you in a positive way. Similarly for text like "dependable". The correct statements focus on what you achieved for your previous organizations and also how beneficial you would be to this prospective organization.

Aha... it seems that this website rejected my previous comment (it was quite long)... and so I had better make this second version shorter. Basically, I was simply telling you that I totally appreciated this website. Now let's see whether my brief comment will be posted, or will your website reject all comments?

Are you aware that 80 of available jobs (and particularly just about every one of the best-paying employment), are only hired within the "hidden" career market. Which means the power pathway to boosting your pay level, is to uncover the leading reasons the top jobs are advertised inside this hidden employment market, rather than the puny public or internet career market.

Should you create a general one-size-fits-all resume, that you can use anytime, anywhere, for any job posting? What the Experts say: It is a dumb error! The key fact: Employers must deal with up to five hundred resumes a day! Which means they throw out any resume that is not intentionally targeted to the work being offered.

Insisting on the duties/responsibilities resume approach, will guarantee that your resume gets dumped in the garbage! Hiring decision-makers no longer care what you did at former occupations. In today's hiring market, they have to see the verifiable accomplishments you have made.

Most job searchers don't know that 80 of job postings (including nearly 100 of the most wanted employment), are only posted inside the "hidden" employment market. Therefore the secret to boosting your job results, is to learn about the leading reasons the highest-paying occupations are advertised inside this rarely discussed job market, rather than the laughable public or cyberspace employment market.
