Mär 9: Apple stellt iWork.com zum 31. Juli ein
Wirklich eingeschlagen war der Dienst nie. Über iWork.com sollte ein einfacher Austausch (und in begrenztem Rahmen auch gemeinsames Bearbeiten) von iWork-Dateien möglich sein. Hierzu wurde der Dienst unter anderem auch in die Menüs der iWork-Apps eingebungen. Zwischendurch hatte Apple zwar kleine Änderungen vorgenommen, ein wirkliches gemeinsames Bearbeiten der Dokumente ist jedoch bis heute nicht möglich geworden. Auf der Macworld 2009 gestartet, ist der Dienst bis heute nicht aus der Beta-Phase heraus gekommen und steht nun kurz vor dem Aus. Wie Apple aktuell in einer Mail an iWork.com-Nutzer mitteilt, wird der Dienst am 31. Juli dieses Jahres eingestellt. iWork.com-User werden nun aufegfordert, ihre bislang in dem Dienst gespeicherten Dokumente herunter zu laden. Stattdessen solle man künftig auf iCloud ausweichen, auch wenn hier bislang ebenfalls keine Zusammenarbeitsfunktion vorhanden ist. Im Anschluss die E-Mail im Wortlaut.
